Flute Instruction
            Mark Thomas is a nationally recognized teacher of flute, having served as Adjunct Professor of Flute at The University of Notre Dame, Indiana University at South Bend (IN), and The University of NC at Charlotte, and The American University, Washington, DC, where he served as the Woodwind Department Chair. Students ranged from undergraduate to Master's and PhD level.  Many of his former students are now performing and teaching throughout the US and abroad.  In addition, he was Resident Flute Artist at the Sewanee Summer Music Center (TN) for many years, and Guest Flutist at The National Music Camp (Interlochen, MI).
             He has written the Mark Thomas Flute Method Books 1-3, and a variety of arrangements for multiple flutes, flute and piano, and flutes and other instruments.  He has authored feature articles on the flute and flute playing and teaching for many magazines, including School Musician, Woodwind Brass & Percussion Magazine, Flute Talk Magazine, The Instrumentalist, Musical Merchandise Review, Music Trades Magazine, and The Flutist Quarterly (magazine of The National Flute Association).

Guest soloist with the SC All State Band, at the SC Music Educators Convention.
With The National Capitol Woodwind Quintet,  Thomas presented many in-school concerts for high schoolers in the Northern VA and Washington, DC area
